Swedish Company EQT Group Interested In Buying RCB Team!

  • Sweden's EQT joins RCB buying race with over $2 Billion bid.

  • Big shots like Glazer, Poonawalla and Pai are also fighting for the team.

  • New owner will be announced on March 31st!

A really famous company from Sweden called EQT is now in the race to buy our most favoritest team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which we all call RCB . These people are super rich, they have lots and lots of money. They are going to give a bid for the team and the price is going to be mind-blowing, like more than 2 billion dollars! Can you even imagine that much money? Thats a two with so many zeros I cant even count.

My dad told me that this is a very big deal. The people who own RCB now, a big company named United Spirits, said they want to sell the team because it’s not their main business. They like making drinks better, not running a cricket team. So they are having a big auction, and everyone who is rich is coming to buy it. It’s like when you have an old toy you don’t play with, and you sell it, but this toy costs more than all the money in the world!

Who All Are Bidding? Many Big Big People!

So there is this man called Avram Glazer, who owns the famous Manchester United football team in England. He already gave a bid of about 1.8 billion dollars, which is also a lot of money. He really, really wants to buy RCB. And now EQT is coming with even more money, maybe 2 to 2.1 billion! That’s like a billion more! They are fighting to see who gets the team.

Also, there are rich Indian people bidding. One is Adar Poonawalla, who is the CEO of Serum Institute, the company that made the Corona vaccine for us. He said on Twitter (or X) that he will give a “strong and competitive” bid because RCB is the best team. Another rich man is Dr. Ranjan Pai from Manipal Group; he is also in the race with his friends who have money. So many big people want our RCB!

Why Does Everyone Suddenly Want RCB So Badly?

You know, for so many years, RCB never won the IPL trophy, and everyone made fun of us. But last year, in 2025, they finally won! They became the champions. And the women’s team also won their league. After that, everyone is like “oh RCB is the best, I want to buy them”. It’s funny how winning changes everything.

Because of the win, the team became even more valuable. Before, people thought it was just a team that looked good but lost. Now they see it’s a winning team. Also, RCB has the best fans in the whole world, like us! And they have Virat Kohli, who is like a god of cricket. So the new owners will get Virat also, I think. That makes the team worth all that money.

The Last Date and Who Will Win?

The people who are selling the team said that everyone has to give their final and best bids by March 16th. That’s very soon! Then they will decide by March 31st who is the new owner. I’m so excited and nervous. I hope the new owner is nice and spends more money to buy good players.

EQT is a very big company from Sweden, and they have lots of experience buying teams. But the Glazer family also knows how to run a sports team because of Manchester United. And our Indian billionaires also love cricket so much. It’s a tough fight. Whoever wins, I just want them to keep RCB as the best team and win the IPL again this year. We are the defending champions now, you know!

My Last Thought on This

So yeah, a new Swedish company has come to try to buy our RCB. The valuation is going to cross 2 billion dollars, which is like a world record for cricket, I think. It makes me feel proud that our team is so famous and costly. All the rich people of the world are fighting for it. Let’s see who wins the race. I hope it’s someone who loves the team as much as we fans do.
