England made it to the semifinals at the T20 World Cup after a very intense fight against Pakistan. They beat Pakistan by two wickets in a close game. Harry Brook scored his first-ever hundred for England. He captained the side and really stepped up when his team needed him.
Pakistan scored 164 runs in the first innings. With 63, Sahibzada Farhan was on top. He appeared fantastic on the outside. However, the rest of the bowlers struggled. England’s bowlers kept the game small. In his four overs, Liam Dawson took three wickets and just managed 24 runs. He put in a lot of energy into that. Pakistan couldn’t break free in the middle overs, despite the spinners ‘excellent bowling.
Chasing 165 is never easy. England made it harder for themselves. The first ball of the innings, Phil Salt got out. He nicked it behind and walked off for zero. Next over Jos Buttler chopped on for just two. He is having a really bad tournament. Shaheen Afridi was all over them. He kept taking wickets. At one stage, England was 58 for four, and things looked really bad. I thought Pakistan would win from there.
Harry Brook walked in at number three. Thats higher than he usually bats. He looked confident right away. While wickets fell at the other end, he just kept swinging. He hit sixes over square leg and down the ground. Nothing Pakistan bowled could stop him. He used his feet against the spinners and hit them too. It was like he was playing on an easier wicket than everyone else.
He celebrated a little while past his fifty, but then returned to work. He desired to finish the game. He continued to attack and brought England closer to the intended destination. Shaheen Afridi was smashed for six and then four in the eighteenth over. He was attracted by that. His second T20 hundred for England was a success. He was cheered and clapped by the entire venue. Yet the Pakistani players clapped, I believe. He was bowled for the following basketball, but it was irrelevant. When he left, England merely needed ten more runs.
Best, ten runs should be simple. False. England swiftly lost two more innings. At the end, Mohammad Nawaz did a fantastic job. The match ended in the end. All were biting their nails, anyone. Finally, for four more, Jofra Archer swung powerfully to force it to midwicket. The dugout was completely destroyed when England prevailed. They ooh a gurdling sigh of relief.
Amid this uncertainty, recent on-field performances have served as a reminder of cricket’s ability to shift narratives through sheer excellence. Jacob Bethell’s Ashes heroics in Sydney, which played a crucial role in England’s fightback, showcased how individual brilliance can momentarily rise above off-field tensions and refocus attention on the game itself.

England are now in the semifinals for the fifth time with their hard work. They haven’t played perfect cricket yet. Their fielding was sloppy again against Pakistan. They dropped catches and misfielded a few times. But they keep finding ways to win. They play New Zealand next and can top the group with a win.
Pakistan has it tough now. They need to beat Sri Lanka and hope other results help them out. Farhan is batting really well, but he needs friends. Nobody else is scoring big runs for them. Shadab is the next best with only 111 runs in the tournament. That is not enough at this level. They will need everyone to step up if they want to stay alive.

England will rest up now and get ready for New Zealand on Friday. They might make changes, or they might keep the same team. Brook will probably bat at three again after that performance. Buttler will want some runs before the knockout games. He is due for a big score. If England can put together a complete game, they will be dangerous in the semifinals. Pakistan will watch and wait and hope for a miracle. That’s cricket for you. Anything can happen.
