Pakistan Players Get a Big Fine! T20 World Cup Flop Costs Them 5 Million Each!
  • Pakistan players were fined 5 million PKR each after their disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup.

  • The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) made it clear that the fine was due to poor performance, not disciplinary issues.

  • Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals after losing key matches and falling behind on net run rate.

  • The board has ended “preferential treatment” and announced that future financial rewards will be strictly performance-based.

  • The heavy fine sends a strong message that consistent results are now mandatory for maintaining contracts and earnings.

Bad news for the Pakistani players. It seems like PCB was not delighted with the performance. So they come up with a brilliant idea, and that is, to fine them! Every player of the squad that played in the T20 World Cup was unfortunately fined 5 million Pakistani rupees! Thats a whole lot of money, more than a normal person could ever count! Can you imagine getting fined that much?

The newspaper people and TV news are all saying that the players have to pay this money because they were underperforming. That means they didn’t play as well as they should have. The PCB bosses are saying that they are not going to give special treatment to anyone anymore. If you play badly, you don’t get good money. Simple as that! They were like “no more preferential treatment,” which means everyone is the same now.

What Happened in All the Matches?

The Pakistan team had a really tough time in the whole tournament. It all started when they played against the Netherlands. That match was supposed to be easy, but guess what? They almost lost! They won at the end, but it was too close for comfort, my dad said. Everyone was biting their nails, I think!

Then they played against the USA, and they won that one too. Everyone was happy for a little bit. But then came the big match, the one everyone waits for! India vs Pakistan! Oh boy, that match was not good for Pakistan fans. They lost the match, and it wasn’t even close. India beat them like anything. I felt sad for them, but also India played so well. It was a one-sided clash, the news said, which means one team was way better.

After that, they played against Namibia and won that match. That helped them go to the Super 8 stage. Super 8 is when the best teams play each other. Their next match was against New Zealand, but guess what happened? Rain came! The whole match got washed away, and no one could play. That’s so unlucky! All that practice for nothing!

Then they played against England and lost that match also. Now their chances of going to the semi-finals were looking very small, like a tiny little ant. If England beat New Zealand, then Pakistan, could still go through. So everyone was watching that match. England did win against New Zealand! Yay for Pakistan hopes! But it didn’t matter because when Pakistan played Sri Lanka, they only won by a little bit. They edged past Sri Lanka, which means they won but just barely. The win was not big enough to make their net run rate good.

What is Net Run Rate and Why It Mattered?

Net run rate is like a math thing that helps decide who goes through if teams have the same points. It’s complicated for my brain, but my brother explained it. Because Pakistan only won by a small amount against Sri Lanka, New Zealand had a better net run rate. So New Zealand went to the semi-finals, and Pakistan had to pack their bags and come back home. So sad! Their whole campaign ended just like that, poof!

Why They Got Fined So Much Money?

The PCB people are saying that this fine is not because the players did something bad, like breaking rules or fighting. No, no, no. They got fined just because they played badly. The sources said the fines were not for disciplinary breaches. Disciplinary breaches means like, if you fight or break curfew. This was just for playing badly. The bosses are telling everyone that the old days of getting money even when you play bad is finished. Finished! Now if you play well, you get good money. If you play badly, you get less money. Sounds fair to me! Officials have allegedly made it clear that financial rewards will now be strictly tied to performance.

Amid this uncertainty, recent on-field performances have served as a reminder of cricket’s ability to shift narratives through sheer excellence. Jacob Bethell’s Ashes heroics in Sydney, which played a crucial role in England’s fightback, showcased how individual brilliance can momentarily rise above off-field tensions and refocus attention on the game itself.

How Much Money Do Pakistani Players Get Normally?

The PCB also has this system where players get paid different amounts based on which category they are in. Like in school, we have different sections A, B, C, D. Same thing for Pakistan players! Under the current pay structure, players get money according to their contract category.

The A category players get 4.5 million rupees every month as salary. Plus, they also get 2.07 million rupees from ICC revenue sharing. ICC is the big boss of world cricket. But get this! For the new contract from July 2025 to June 2026, nobody is in the A category at all! Not one single player! That’s crazy, right? They probably got demoted for playing badly!

The B category players get 3 million rupees every month and 1.5525 million rupees from the ICC. The C category players get 1 million rupees monthly and 1.035 million rupees from the ICC. And the D category players get 750,000 rupees every month and 517,500 rupees from ICC.

And that’s not all! They also get extra money for each match they play. Match fees are paid separately, the news said. So they make a lot of money, actually. But now with this 5 million rupee fine, they have to give some back because they played badly. Imagine earning all that and then losing 5 million! Ouch!

What Happens Now For Pakistan Team?

The Pakistan team is going to have to think about how they play next time. The PCB is being strict now. No more easy money for playing badly.

I hope Pakistan plays better next time. They have good players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. They just had a bad tournament. It happens to everyone. I have bad days in school sometimes. But next World Cup they will try harder for sure!

So that’s the whole story, everyone! Pakistan players got fined 5 million rupees each for playing badly in the T20 World Cup. PCB is angry and saying no more special treatment. Now they have to earn their money by playing good cricket.
